Can guests abroad make contributions?

We live in the US but 50% of our guests are in other countries, can they do contributions as well? does it matter that they do not have an American address link to their credit cards? Can they do wire transfers? The reason I ask this is because there seems to be many problems in the US to make purchases on line if the credit card is not in the US. Please let me know.

Also, I looked at some of the real registries you have on line. The price that appear for each of the experiences, i.e breakfast, one night accommodation, etc is given by you or can we choose the amount?

Thank you!
Forum: Registries

Discourage use of Sandals

Please note that the individuals in the previous post did NOT book their travel through TheBigDay. If they had booked their travel through TheBigDay, we would have been able to help them out. We find that an individual has very little leverage in solving a problem with a hotel chain, whereas an agency like TheBigDay books so much volume with them that when we call they listen.
Forum: Travel

Discourage use of Sandals

I would just like to discourage anyone, anywhere, any time using Sandals as your destination for travel. On our honeymoon, we went to the airport and my wife did not have a flight ticket. It was booked 8 months in advanced and I had confirmed the reservation on numerous occassions. I could not reach anyone at Sandals and we almost missed our flight, but we still had to purchase a round trip ticket for her. It is over a month and a half later and we still have not been reimbursed. Sandals will not provide any additional compensation because they said it was not their fault, but rather a company that they outsource their travel too; however, I booked the reservation through Sandals.com and did not receive any information from an outside company other than Sandals. I was very disappointed with their front office support and will boycott them for good.

Don't make the same mistake I did.

Brian Clemmons
Forum: Travel

Private yacht honeymoon

Mike and I got back from our honeymoon.... a week aboard a private yacht in St. Thomas. It was more affordable then we imagined. Our Captain sailed us to private bays for some snorkeling and lounging as well as brought to ports for nightlife and shopping. Our gourmet meals were all included along with drinks and wine. For a really unique time you'll never forget, I recommend Tony at http://www.fun-n-sun-yachts.com. Drop him a line, they have cruises available all over the world.
Forum: Travel

Even though it is hurricane season, does anyone have any thoughts or advice on honeymooning in the Caribbean in Sept? Are there any islands better than others? We had heard that the south Caribbean is more protected and hurricanes are less of a risk there.
how to tastefully get the word out

I am having a hard time coming up with a way to tastefully get the word out about our registry. We are having a very simple and intimate wedding ceremony where it will just be the two of us. We are doing a wedding/honeymoon.

Because we aren't inviting anyone, how do we say "oh by the way, if you want to give us a gift......"?

Any suggestions would be helpful.......
Forum: Etiquette

How to plan a shower around a honeymoon registry

I'm so excited to be using thebigday.com as our primary registry for our wedding, but I'm really at a loss as to how you would plan a shower around this type of registry.

I'm looking for ideas so I can help steer my MOH in the right direction. She was thinking Jack n' Jill shower, but my fiance has no desire to attend so I don't think that's the best option.

I saw one idea where people brought gifts representing what they bought from the registry (Mini airplane and can of peanuts representing the airfare) and then the bride-to-be tries to guess what they bought, but I don't want to have my guests buying another gift just to try and get me to guess what the primary gift was. I've just always been to typical showers where the whole thing revolves around opening actual gifts. I need suggestions on how to fill the time with fun things, but show appreciation for the gifts that were purchased off our honeymoon registry.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Forum: Registries

Its called "say I do" and its by carl thomas off his album -so much better.
